There is a moment, when you walk into Amazonia Concept, where you might notice something different. The greenery. The warm tones. The quiet sense that this place was built with intention. And if you've ever wondered why a hair and beauty salon in the middle of Amstelveen is named after the largest rainforest on Earth — this post is for you.

It starts with a childhood in Brazil

Our founder Raquel grew up in Brazil, surrounded by nature. As a child, she spent her days in her mother's garden, cultivating vegetables, fruits, and herbs; developing a deep, instinctive connection to the natural world around her. That relationship between nature, care, and beauty became part of who she is.

When she moved to the Netherlands at 20 and began building her dream salon, she knew one thing for certain: she didn't want to create just another hair salon. She wanted to create a space that reflected her values — where the environment you walk into feels as considered as the service you receive.

The name Amazonia Concept was never just a nod to where she came from. It is a statement of what she believes beauty should be.

What the Amazon represents

The Amazon rainforest is the most biodiverse place on Earth. It covers over 5.5 million square kilometres, produces around 20% of the world's oxygen, and is home to an extraordinary wealth of plants that indigenous communities have used for centuries for healing, health, and beauty.

To Raquel, the Amazon represents everything she believes about beauty, something rooted in nature, built to last, respectful of what already exists, and alive with purpose.

That philosophy runs through every decision made at Amazonia Concept. From the products we choose; high-quality, responsible formulations focused on the long-term health of your hair, to the atmosphere we've created in the salon, designed to feel calm, warm, and connected to something bigger than a haircut.

More than a name — a real commitment

In 2022, when Amazonia Concept first opened its doors in Amstelveen, Raquel made a commitment that went beyond offering great hair services. She partnered with the Amazon Conservation Association to actively contribute to the protection of the rainforest.

For every €100 spent in the salon, Amazonia Concept plants a tree in the Amazon Basin.

To date, together with our incredible clients, we have already planted over 5,000 trees.

This is not a marketing initiative. It is a genuine act of giving back, to the place that inspired this salon, to the planet we all share, and to the communities whose lives depend on the health of the forest.

Why it matters for you

Every time you book an appointment at Amazonia Concept, whether it's a colour, a cut, a manicure, or a brow treatment, you are part of something larger than yourself. You are choosing a salon that takes its name seriously. That looks after your hair with the same care and respect it extends to the world around us.

We believe beauty should feel meaningful. And we think your hair appointment can be one small, beautiful act of purpose.

Welcome to Amazonia Concept. Now you know where the name comes from.
